Sulvme Hosts Ibom Mathematics Challenge Season 2 for all Secondary Schools And Students Within UYO L.G.A And its Environs

Round 1 / Knock-Out Stage – 15th June, 2019

Phase one (Junior Category)

Venue: CBN Auditorium, University of Uyo Town Campus
Time: 10.00AM prompt
Screening starts by 9.00AM

Phase two (Senior Category)

Venue: CBN Hall, University of Uyo, Town Campus
Time: 1:00PM prompt
Screening starts by 12.00PM

Round 2 / Grand finale – 22nd June, 2019

Venue: Barth Ebong Hall, University of Uyo Town Campus Annex
Time: 11:00AM prompt
Candidates are expected to arrive by 10.30AM in order to be screened and admitted into the hall to their respective sits.
NB: This timing is to be strictly adhered to.

Eligibility

For students

  • Must be a student of a secondary school in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria
  • Must be within JS1-JS3 for Junior category and SS1-SS3 for senior category

For Schools

  • School must have either a base or branch in Akwa Ibom State

Prizes and Awards

Prizes for the Senior Category

Prizes will be awarded to the best three students in both the junior and senior categories

  • 1st Position – Student prize + Certificate + Medal (Gold) + Honorary Plaque for school
  • 2nd Position – Student prize + Certificate + Medal (Silver) + Honorary Plaque for school
  • 3rd Position – Student prize + Certificate + Medal (Bronze)
  • And other consolation prizes.
The honorary plaques will only be awarded to the school if the winner is representing his or her school.
Every school being represented will get a certificate of Participation

Procedure

Three categories of students are eligible to purchase the form for this competition

Category A: Students Standing Alone

This includes students who are not representing their schools and are going solo. Students who are in JS1 to JS3 are eligible to purchase the form for the junior category while Students from SS1 to SS3 for the senior category. If a student in this category wins, the school will not get the Award Plaque The price for this form is #1,500 for both junior and senior class

Category B: Students Representing Government Schools

This includes students who are representing their schools (Government Schools). Interested Government Schools are required to nominate a minimum of one and a maximum of two students to represent them in the competition. Preferably, one student each for the junior and senior category If a student in this category wins, the school will get an Award Plaque. The price for this form is #1,000 for each student

Category C: Students Representing Private Schools

This includes students who are representing their schools (Private Schools). Interested Private Schools are required to nominate a minimum of one and a maximum of two students to represent them in the competition. Preferably, one student each for the junior and senior category If a student in this category wins, the school will get an Award Plaque. The price for this form is #2,000 for each student.

Schools are allowed to include as many interested stand-alone students as possible.

Students representing their schools must come with their school uniforms on both days while the stand alone students are free to dress casually


Mode of Contest

Forms must be duly completed as well as signed and stamped by the school principal to show that the student is a member of the school.

NB: Where the sign and stamp of the principal is not possible, then the student must attach his last result to the form during submission.

The knock out stage is going to feature a written test where the students will be given 25 questions to be answered within 30 minutes. The cut off mark for this test will be determined based on general performance where the successful candidates will be proceeding to the grand-finale. The result for the knock out stage will be published on our website and SMS will be sent to the parents/guardians and even teachers of these students to inform them of their successful candidates. The grand-finale will feature a computer based test where the candidates will be allowed to choose question numbers from a bank of questions and will be eliminated based on their speed and accuracy level.

NB: The gate fee for this group of persons into the hall for the grand-finale is #500 only.
