SULVME MATHEMATICS COMPETITION 2018


Sulvme hosts her First Annual Mathematics Competition among students and Secondary schools in Uyo Metropolis and its environs, Akwa Ibom state.

Round 1 / Knock-Out Stage – 24th November, 2018

Phase one (Junior Category)

Venue: CBN Auditorium, University of Uyo Town Campus
Time: 12.00PM prompt
Screening starts by 11.00AM

Phase two (Senior Category)

Venue: CBN Hall, University of Uyo, Town Campus
Time: 2:00PM prompt
Screening starts by 1.00PM

Non contestants will not be allowed into the hall


Round 2 / Grand finale – 1st December, 2018

Venue: Barth Ebong Hall, University of Uyo Town Campus Annex
Time: 10:00AM prompt
Screening Starts by 9.00AM
Gate fee / Raffle Draw Ticket for non contestants: #500
Calculators or any other electronic devices will be not be allowed in this competition.

Eligibility

For students

  • Must be a secondary school student in Uyo (from JS1-SS3) or its environs

For Schools

  • School must either have a base or branch in Uyo metropolis or its environs

Prizes and Awards

Prizes for the Senior Category
  • 1st Position - Student Prize & Certificate + Honorary Plaque (Gold) for the school
  • 2nd Position - Student Prize & Certificate + Honorary Plaque (Silver) for the school
  • 3rd Position - Student Prize & Certificate
  • And other consolation prizes for participants.
Prizes for the Junior Category
  • 1st Position - Student Prize & Certificate + Honorary Plaque (Gold) for the school
  • 2nd Position - Student Prize & Certificate + Honorary Plaque (Silver) for the school
  • 3rd Position - Student Prize & Certificate
  • And other consolation prizes for participants.
The honorary plaques will only be awarded to the school if the winner is representing his or her school.
Every school being represented will get a certificate of Participation

Procedure

Three categories of students are eligible to purchase the form for this competition

Category A: Students Standing Alone

This includes students who are not representing their schools and are going solo. Students who are in JS1 to JS3 are eligible to purchase the form for the junior category while Students from SS1 to SS3 for the senior category. If a student in this category wins, the school will not get the Award Plaque
The price for this form is #1,500 for both junior and senior class

Category B: Students Representing Government Schools

This includes students who are representing their schools (Government Schools). Interested Government Schools are required to nominate a minimum of two and a maximum of four students to represent them in the competition. Preferably, two student each for the junior and senior category If a student in this category wins, the school will get an Award Plaque.
The price for this form is #1,000 for each student

Category C: Students Representing Private Schools

This includes students who are representing their schools (Private Schools). Interested Private Schools are required to nominate a minimum of two and a maximum of four students to represent them in the competition. Preferably, two student each for the junior and senior category If a student in this category wins, the school will get an Award Plaque.
The price for this form is #2,000 for each student.

Students representing their schools must come with their school uniforms on both days while the stand alone students are free to dress casually


Criteria for Competing in the Grand finale

Contestants who met all the requirements in their forms will be notified via SMS. (e.g forms without the Principals sign and School stamp will be discarded and the respective participants disqualified)
The names of the successfully screened candidates will also be made available on our website www.sulvme.com so they could proceed to the knock out stage.
The Knock-out stage will feature written exams of which candidates who scored above the pass mark will then proceed to the final round (Grand finale). These students will also be notified via SMS to the phone numbers submitted in the form and their names published on our website.
Only the successful students (candidates notified via SMS) will participate in the Grand finale.
This competition features the junior and senior category.
The junior category consists of students from JS1 to JS3 while the senior category consists of students from SS1 to SS3
